Team World Bicycle Relief: Pascal Bonaventure
Born in Belgium, schooled in France, and now residing in sunny San Diego, Pascal Bonaventure is a husband, dad, and recently converted mountain biker (formerly a road cyclist). Last year, he raced the US Cup Endurance Series and local races including the really fun Quick and Dirty MTB race series. Now, Pascal is training for the October Socal Endurance state Championship in Big Bear, CA.
Pascal is now riding with Team WBR for the Power of Bicycles, hoping to add something greater to his racing beyond his own personal achievements. He explains, "I can easily relate to the power of bicycles and its positive impact on communities. A few years ago my wife Benedicte was working as a nurse in Bobo-Dioulasso Burkina Faso. She used a bicycle to commute to the hospital and one evening coming back from work, her bike was impounded by a policemen for a minor traffic violation. Without her bike, there was no alternative transportation to get to work."
Having learned from his wife's story, Pascal hopes to pass on this powerful mode of transportation to others. Welcome to the team, Pascal!
