One Lap or 7, SBA Students Round Lake Tahoe for Bikes
On May 21, friends, family and faculty members at Sugar Bowl Academy stood at a finish line in front of their school (which happens to be at the top of a steep climb) to cheer on the 75 students riding in the Third Annual Lake Tahoe Century--75 students who had just raised $3,000 USD for the Power of Bicycles!
A mandatory event for academy students, the Lake Tahoe Century is split up into seven legs around the lake. The legs range in difficulty, and riders can choose the number of laps they make around the beautiful Lake Tahoe. With a full support squad of support riders, pit stops, and sag wagons, the ride makes it possible for any student to participate. After that long final climb, riders enjoyed a barbeque at the school. “The Lake Tahoe Century is a great event for both our school, Sugar Bowl Academy, and the World Bicycle Relief. Our entire community gets out to support each other in riding around Lake Tahoe and in fundraising for a great cause. It is truly one of the highlights of our school year.”
Sugar Bowl Academy plans to continue with this annual event, and in supporting World Bicycle Relief through all that pedaling. A big thanks to all the cyclists and supporters of the Lake Tahoe Century!
