Chicago-based Team Coyotes Raises $2K for WFRT
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon this past month, Team Coyotes hosted a fundraising event at the Hideout Inn in Chicago as they geared up for the Wrigley Field Road Tour, which occurs this Sunday, August 25. The team, composed of three newbies to the WFRT and two previous riders, wanted an opportunity to share the motivation for their involvement with friends and family, and what better way to do that than with barbeque, a great raffle, and good time with friends! So, with the sun shining, participants enjoyed a full BBQ spread and raffle, which included donated items such as tickets to a Cubs game and a specialty beer basket. Team Coyotes shared the mission of World Bicycle Relief and Chicago Cubs Charities, as well as their individual stories about how the Power of Bikes has changed their lives.
In between taking spins on the WBR Buffalo Bike, attendees could contribute beyond the raffle through convenient computer stations set up, ready to accept donations for Team Coyotes!
Team leader Julie DiDemenico experienced a great moment when she realized their sharing was already making an impact: "The truly amazing part of the day was when a young boy, Beckett, came up to me and explained that during a music festival this September at the Hideout Inn, he'll be drawing portraits and selling them, and that this year he's been inspired to donate half the money he earns to World Bicycle Relief."
A huge thanks goes out to Team Coyotes and all who participated in the August 11 event, which raised over $2,200!
