Charming’s Charity Night in China Raises Thousands
The Power of Bicycles has officially spread to China, where Zhen Lin hosted “Charming’s Charity Night” at his father’s hotel, the Charming Holiday Hotel in Zhuhai, China. Zhen, with help from his family, invited tons of other family members and friends, including a family friend/TV personality to emcee the night.
Zhen, an alumni of South Kent School where WBR President F.K. Day also attended, heard Mr. Day speak and was inspired by the power of transportation. He quickly signed up for the next Africa Rides trip, which empowered him to continue spreading the word through this awesome charity event which had over 100 attendees and raised a whopping $17,000 USD!
At the event, Zhen’s mother--a professional educator--shared about the importance of education in the lives of all children. Lin shared stories from the Africa Rides trip--including the experience of crashing his bike and injuring his shoulder, which served as a testament of how difficult it is to get back and forth to school.
“Africa Rides was an impressive trip, and Zambia is an absolutely beautiful country. I felt great after I have accomplished my fundraising goal, and I want to do more to make this world a better place in the future.”
